Every year, in August, the State Fair opens up for approximately 10 days. And every year, it seems, I end up going to the fair at least once during those ten days.
In the past, I'd go because of the kids. But now a days, the purpose is to photograph.
Unfortunately, every year, I also seem to take the same type of photographs because after all nothing really changes at the State Fair, from year to year.
Except, this year there was something new.
While I did do my standard walk around and click everything in sight (which I will probably post sometime or another) the presence of the BIG TOP was definitely a lure.
I hadn't been to the circus in ages, and definitely never to go photograph.
Therefore , a visit inside was a must.
As it is customary in all circuses, the Ring Master began the introduction with these famous words:
" Ladeeeeez and G-E-N-T-L-E-M-E-N, Boys and Girls. Welcome to the fabulous Circus of Life. Tonight, here in our own Big Top, right before your very eyes, a fabulous array of acts has been assembled for your delight and delectation."
With that having been said the acts from clowns, jugglers, trapeze artists and more commenced, as did my clicking.
This gentleman's rear view mirror on his wheelchair caught my eye...."click".
Of course no circus outing is complete without some face painting.
This was a nice addition to the standard State Fair. The Big Top had seating for 800 people and three separate performances, all free, to those entering the fairgrounds.
And the entry cost to the fairgrounds for the general public... a mere $5.00. Of course there is an advantage to being old.....for us oldies just $3.00.
Who says getting old doesn't have its benefits? 🤣🤣
