The Fat Ass 5K & Street Party for Charity was invented on a napkin at Celtic Mist Pub on St. Patrick’s Day in 2008. The idea is to race through downtown Springfield, Illinois. Since 2008 $1.6 million have been donated to charity.
The race includes beer, corn dog, donut, and ice cream stops along with live music and entertainment throughout the race route.
With the finish line comes feeding the crowd.
I was going to say normality has returned whereas in fact it is craziness that has returned disguised as normality which is the best sort. No pirates though. 😊
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. This was one of those posts I just did not want to spend too much time on, hence not splitting it. I was rather dissapointed in the event because...first couple of years I actually participated. Then Covid put a halt to it until last year where I took photos and only walked the route. The turn out was fantastic and it was fun shooting. This one was an ehhhh. Why are we doing this kind of ehh? I doubt they had the turn out they expected and most of the participant were ......therefor none of the real crazyness and no PIRATES :(. The pre-baged food ( bbq pork sandwhich, bag of chips and a chocolate chip cookie) was definitely going to waste because they had bagged more than the number of participants and were still bagging as I clicked.
DeleteGreat to see so many people interacting and enjoying themselves!
